ONDE DI MEMORIA E PERCHE' BLOGGO / MEMORY'S WAVES AND WHY I BLOG

Una casa fra gli alberi, Siofok, Lago Balaton, Ungheria
A house among trees, Siofok, Lake Balaton, Hungary

  • While cleaning out a drawer, I have found the above picture. It was one of the many trips I did in summertime, that happened more than twenty years ago in the company of a friend, a former schoolmate. A wave of impressive memories of a life so distant and different from today's, hits me. Withdrawing, leaves scattered debris of a number of memories. Now, I would like to focus them, to arrange them in some way, but where and how?
Speaking of these things the connection with the Proust's cake seems to be immediate. So let us remember together,
by listening from himself, the incident:

And soon, mechanically, dispirited after a dreary day with the prospect of a depressing morrow, I raised to my lips a spoonful of the tea in which I had soaked a morsel of the cake. No sooner had the warm liquid mixed with the crumbs touched my palate than a shudder ran through me and I stopped, intent upon the extraordinary thing that was happening to me. An exquisite pleasure had invaded my senses, something isolated, detached, with no suggestion of its origin. And at once the vicissitudes of life had become indifferent to me, its disasters innocuous, its brevity illusory - this new sensation having had on me the effect which love has of filling me with a precious essence; or rather this essence was not in me it was me. I had ceased now to feel mediocre, contingent, mortal. Whence could it have come to me, this all-powerful joy? I sensed that it was connected with the taste of the tea and the cake .. (Marcel Proust, Swann's Way)

It is a well known fact that Proust distinguishes between voluntary memory, a deliberate effort to recall the past, and involuntary memory induced by the senses only. It is the latter and its randomness that we owe the recovery of a past otherwise lost forever.

But why to remember and why, particularly, to rely on a Blog? At this point, I want to study more in deep this topic. At the end, Proust gives me a possible answer:

You may say, Sir, that this is a work of the free time... just to tell you that an active profession is not the only thing that may deprive a man of his time… But like certain insects or certain vegetables, an instinct has pushed to me to place my seeds, that I think fecund, and, despite the fact that they are badly lodged, there will still dwelling less precarious than in my brain…

To my concern, blogging means being connected to the Internet. To prepare a post is a harmonious, as opposed way of searching, copying / pasting, editing / comparing its own repository of images, video, text with that immense world of the Net collective memory. Then, everything must be arranged by using its own sensibility, feelings, emotions and the ability to express them. Today, the recherche of our own time is not to write in a cork-lined room but it is the result of a continuous and dialectic dialogue with themselves and with the others. Trying not only to hear but to listen, not just to see but to watch. A good comment, acute and targeted, can dramaticaly change your work plan, your direction of travel. Developing this sixth sense can give you "this all-powerful joy". You can use it to discover the many past lives that you belonged.

That I undertake is foolish and it will not have any success. That it imports! It must write in the first place for himself. It is the sole possibility to do something of good.(G. Flaubert)
This Blog wants to create some thoughts about the value of the silence as an action of inner reflection and communication towards the next one. From the magic of mountains of the Silenzi d’Alpe, of which it is the natural son, to the more own contexts of our daily life, whose frenetic and uproarious rhythm often oppresses the development of the individuality. People dominated by the anxiety cannot produce anything of value. A laborious and silent meditation feeds the true creativity.

Walking and traveling they will be the other thematic ones carrying of this space: in the time, in the places, in the memory and in the fantasy. Trying to pick up those feeble voices and sounds that today are strongly covered with noise. Who is connected and gone in the Net, that for the note is called to surf, is a traveler who silently trace its own route. So, I am going toward this beautiful and joyous task in company of who he will want to share a road piece. Since to blogg is a way for expanding the time for living.
